In a recent Interview with an Obesity surgeon in Belgium, he said that he thought that this was due to the fact that there had recently been more publicity on Obesity and how it effects peoples lives. He also said that another possiblity for the increase in request from the UK was because of the lengthy waiting time for gastric band surgery on the NHS.
